Overview

The area of 850,000 acre of pristine wilderness in the Mathews Range, in the northern frontier of Kenya, lies Namunyak Wildlife Conservancy. A hidden land of unparalleled beauty and coexistence in the heart of Samburu, dedicated to conserve a landscape where people and wildlife flourish, side by side is home to the indigenous Samburu people whose age-old traditions are as much as part of the fabric of the land.

The Sarara Camp is set in Namunyak Wildlife Conservancy, with six spacious and beautifully appointed en-suite tents offer uninterrupted views over the majestic Mathews Range, catering for every need of the modern-day traveler. Each tent is ensuite with solar heated outdoor showers, feature butler-box which allows the discreet delivery of early morning tea, coffee, and cookies.

The Camp has a two-bedroom family unit called ‘Sarara House’, with additional features of a beautiful plunge, private dining and private sitting room. The Sarara House has become famous for the elephants who regularly visit the house pool and offer guests an incredible up-close and personal experience as they come for the water.

The Camp has a waterhole, and the footpaths are frequented by an array of wildlife, such as elephants, reticulated giraffe, buffalo, kudu, impala, leopard and wild dog. The Sarara Foundation is a unique community conservation model, that supports people to conserve wildlife and biodiversity’s. 

Over 30 years of community conservation, Namunyak Conservancy is a safe haven for wildlife and home to the second largest population of elephants in Kenya and over 450 reticulated giraffes, the endangered Grevy’s Zebra and the fabled Gerenuk amongst many more. 

The Camp is closed in November.

Accommodation

  • 6 luxury tents feature ensuite toilets, with wash basin, and out door bathroom next to the tent.
  • Sarara House (2 bedrooms) and all ensuite indoor toilets and outdoor, solar heated showers. Own swimming pool and private sitting & dining area, and its private waterhole.
  • All rooms feature pure in-room safe, cotton linen, dressing gowns, square pin plug sockets, yoga mats, torch, drinking water and toiletries.

  • The Camp is completely off the grid, and power is provided by a 24-hour solar powered electricity with state -of the -art Tesla power walls.

Not included is a Binoculars.
  • Unrestricted game drives exploring the 850,000 acres of pristine wildlife habitat accompanied by a Samburu guide.
  • Meet the rescue reticulated giraffe and Gravy Zebra, Ontulili and Tongai
  • Visit the Nomadic Montessori Schools and Nomadic Healthcare Programs
