Kenya
KENYA as a Tourist destination is located in East Africa with a coastline on the Indian Ocean.
The total area of 580,370 km² (224,082 mi²) and a total coastline of 536 km (333.1 mi) of soft white sand fringed by palm trees, giving way to aquamarine. The ethnic make-up of Kikuyu, Luhya, Luo, Kalenjin, Kamba, Kisii, Meru, other African and non-African, majority are Christian, with a number of Muslims and other indigenous beliefs.
Surrounded by savannah, Lakelands, the Great Rift Valley and mountain highlands. Home to a large variety of wildlife from the Big Five (lion, leopard, rhino, elephant and cape buffalo) and the ‘Samburu six’ as northern Kenya rare endemic species (Grevy’s zebra, the reticulated giraffe, Jackson’s Hartebeest, the Somali ostrich, Beisa oryx and the Gerenuk).
The land of endemic birds namely Jackson’s Francolin, William’s Lark, Hinde’s Pied Babbler, Taita Thrush, Sharpe’s Longclaw, Clarke’s Weaver, Tana River Cisticola, Aberdare Cisticola and Sokoke Scope-Owl. From Nairobi, the Capital, home to the ‘World’s only Wildlife Capital’ Nairobi National Park, to Maasai Mara National Reserve, know for its annual wildebeest migrations, Amboseli National Park offers the best views of Tanzania’s 5,895m Mt. Kilimanjaro, the tallest mountain on the African continent and the highest free-standing mountain in the world.
A visit to Kenya is not complete without a stay in Laikipia Conservancy, over 45,000acres of ranch and conservancies within Loisaba is 56,000-acre landscape in northern Kenya’s Laikipia County. The conservancies offer diverse experience from conservancy visits, game drives, marathon, guided safari walks, camel or horseback rides to camping. Having the lion’s share of the country’s endangered species including almost half of Kenya’s black rhino population.
Kenya is the original safari destination and remains one of the best places in Africa to see wild animals in varied camps, lodges and hotels. Important parks like The Aberdares, Lake Nakuru, Samburu, Tsavo East & West are a must visit.
