Overview
Ruzizi Tented Lodge is located on the banks of Lake Ihema, Lake Ihema is Akagera’ largest lake, furnishing the spectacular views from the lodge.
This eco-lodge was designed to blend in with its surroundings to allow guests to connect with nature and is powered by solar energy. Certain natural elements have been incorporated into the building, and during construction, trees and vegetation were left undisturbed, whereas the décor and furniture were handcrafted by local artisans and cooperatives. Profits from Ruzizi help support the conservation initiative of Akagera.
The 9 tents are set back from Ihema’s serene shores and hidden among swaying palms and fruiting fig trees. This private yet comfortable lodge can host a maximum of 20 guests, in tents ensuite with shaded verandas set with campaign chairs and a tree-trunk table. The reception is thatched with a dining area, a wooden walkway leading to a stunning deck that hangs over the lake. The central fire pit is the perfect spot for morning coffee or an evening drink under the stars.
The lodge is accessible by road from Kigali a 2 hr 39min drive (69.6mi) and from the southern entrance through Giraffe gate a 15min (3.7mi) drive.

Accommodation
Each of the tents features a queen bed or twin beds, an ensuite bathroom, with hot and cold running water, flush toilets and a shower, a dressing area, safes, Wi-Fi, shaded veranda with campaign chairs and a tree-trunk table.
