Overview

Ol Tukai lodge is set at the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Amboseli National Park with its breathtaking scenery and unique wildlife, renowned for its elephant population. Described by writers as “A home for the gods”. The Lodge shares its rich cultural history from the Maasai Community, the Colonial Government and the early European Explorers. 

The lodge was established in 1996, on the original setup for the film crew who shot Snow at Kilimanjaro in 1948 starring Gegory Peck, Susan Hayward and Ava Gardner – an adaptation of The Snows of Kilimanjaro, including a collection of short stories authored by Ernest Hemingways. Published in 1961. Located strategically in the heart of Amboseli National Park with a backdrop of Mt. Kilimanjaro in the midst of the beautiful and dense herds of free-ranging elephants.

The 80-luxury chalet-style twin rooms all with an uninterrupted view of the wetlands or Kilimanjaro in categories family-friendly, eco-friendly and disability friendly. The rooms are beautifully appointed, providing comfort and a calming effect of home, the painstakingly handcrafted African artifacts and wildlife décor display attention to detail. The main dining area has a traditional style set up where entertainment is provided by the local Maasai Moran’s. The Theme nights which are a regular attraction where the highly acclaimed chef offers exciting cuisines accompanied by an array of exclusive wines.

The Elephant Bar has an upper deck where one may enjoy the experience of the amazing sundown activities as the fiery sun sets beyond the peak of Mt. Kilimanjaro. After a full day on game drives return for Spa treatments with a variety of essential oils to relax your mind and soul.

80 luxury chalet-style twin rooms, all with uninterrupted view of the wetlands or Kilimanjaro. All rooms are strategically positioned to either a view or the wildlife.

Standard Rooms, Twin rooms, Triple rooms: accommodates two guests, king size bed with view of Mt. Kilimanjaro or the Elephant view. Provide a mosquito-repellant ointment, safe for valuables, a closet, baggage storage unit, coffee/tea making facility replenished daily.

Disability Friendly Rooms: situated very close to all the amenities, two rooms have been designed in accordance to the EU standards to accommodate person with disability, a door-ramp, furniture and room fittings are all within a reachable height, bathrooms have specially fitted flexible handle bars for support aside from all other amenities in other room categories.
