Overview

Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge is located 300m from the Nkuringo Sector visitor’s reception, at an altitude of 7,000ft on a magnificent ridge with stunning views across the rugged landscapes and beyond the Virunga. The lodge is an approx. 15-minute walk to the gorilla trekking briefing point and 23 kms (14mi) from the Rushaga sector briefing point, a 45 min drive from the lodge.

Positioned in the heart of the Nkuringo local community, allowing guests to experience the vibrant cultures of the villages around the lodge, also a great base for Mountain Gorilla Trekking, nature walking, hiking, and birding in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. The lodge’s superb location has won multi-awards as an eco-lodge featuring private garden cottage, family villas, luxury suites nestled on a forested ridge with views of the rural landscape.

There are several trails around the lodge that take you through the paradise of pristine nature. The lodge has been built with local material, using locally soured papyrus for celling and wooden floors with a touch of volcanic rock.

The use of corrugated iron sheets support rainwater catchment which is the primary water source. All clients are encouraged to come with water bottles to refill from the main dining area. 

With two lounge and dining spaces, Mylica Bar and Rafiki lounge, all meals are homemade with freshly-baked bread, the Upstairs lounge has a fireplace, an in-house craft shop and all the suites come with an all-inclusive arrangement and full-time butler service.

Accommodation

6 cottages, 3 Villas are 2 in 1-bedroom cottages, ensuite bathroom, private entrance, interconnecting door at the terrace.

5 Standard Garden Cottages, 38 sq. m are the latest addition located in the original gardens surrounded by rare trees and flowers. Offer single, twin or double beds, ensuite bathroom, safe deposit, private veranda, complimentary drinking water, shampoo and hair conditioner, hairdryer in some rooms, an extra bed and bay cot is available upon request, hot water bottle in the evening, tea/coffee brought to your room, solar powered gas water heater and private Butler service

6 Deluxe Garden Cottages, are tucked among lush gardens giving guest ultimate privacy in a garden setting. Each is built with volcano stone, fitted with a fireplace for the colder nights, a walk-in shower, powered by solar energy, interior décor is African, ideal for solo traveler, or friends sharing with a large veranda enjoying forest or volcano views.

4 Forest Suites (2 are Honeymoon Suites) is approx. 90 sq m, with large windows offering panoramic views of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Each Suite has beautifully inspired interiors showcasing simple and contemporary use of local materials, large beds, spacious bathroom, private lounge and veranda

 2 (2-bedroom Family Villas) each cottage/suite has an outside balcony, there is an interconnecting door, 2 independent private cottages, each room can accommodate u to 3 guests, 3 Villas at 98 sq. m sprout off the ridge slope overlooking the misty Forest, individually crafted by local artisans using volcano stone and reusable material. The floor-to-roof glass windows bring in natural light while maintaining the warmth from the fireplace. The Suites come with a private butler and exclusive room service.
