Overview
Akagera Game Lodge was opened on 14th of April 2021, under the Mantis collection after an extensive renovation which started in 2018 to be one of Rwanda’s most iconic lodges offering visitors a stay within the Akagera National Park. The lodge is located in the southern section of the Akagera National Park, and brags of bird’s eye view of Lake Ihema and the smaller Lake Shikani.
Accessible by road from Kigali International Airport to the park 2 hr 23 min drive (68.3mi) to the lodge and 1 min (300ft) from park gate to the Lodge. Akagera National Park offers an exceptional birdlife and wildlife experience since the Big 5 are only found here in Rwanda. The park is also home to the rare swamp-dwelling Sitatunga, the rare Shoebill stork, the endangered Papyrus Gonolex and the popular Red-faced barbet and over 500 recorded bird species making Akagera one of the best birding environs in the world.
The lodge consists of 60 rooms, each offers a seamless fusion of modern luxury and rustic charm, with astonishing views of the surrounding savannah and lake. Rooms are booked in twin or king size beds, downstairs the rooms are larger, which has space for children under 12 to share, or families may book inter-leading rooms. The upper-level guest rooms have balconies overlooking the gardens and national park.
Inzovu Restaurant, where menus are prepared from the on site organic grown fresh and seasonal produce, the daily meals include an African local twist to dishes that tantalize your taste bud. The Restaurant opens for breakfast and dinner for buffet and a la carte options.
The Bar is fully stocked with international and local brands, and a perfect spot for the evenings. The spectacular pool deck, swimming pool, conference venue and deck area all have been renovated and refurbished. The presidential suite has been modified and modernized to be a showcase.
The Mantis sustainability practices are kept as the original centralized geyser & boiler system has been replaced with solar assisted geysers and other sustainable energy solutions, including an organic vegetable garden tended to by the staff. A drive to Lake Ihema takes 20-minutes, a boat ride to see the wild from a different point of view.

29 Balcony Rooms: with same amenities are the standard rooms and an additional ensuite balcony room.

2 Family Suites: same amenities as standard room, an additional open lounge, kitchenette, 3 bedrooms; Master bedroom has a king size bed, ensuite bathroom with bathtub, 2nd bedroom has twin beds, 3rd bedroom has a single bed. There is a shared bathroom with a shower between the 2 & 3rd bedroom.
Presidential Suite: a luxurious suite, with 2 ensuite bedrooms, sleeps 4 guests, the main bedroom has a private patio overlooking the hills and valleys of the national park. A fully fitted kitchen, a beautiful dinning room sits 10 guests and a separate lounge.
