Overview

Located between the Tarangire and Lake Manyara National Parks, on a 20,000ha privately managed by Wildlife Management Area, set amidst a canopy of ancient baobabs is this classic safari camp interlaced in luxury in every experience. The ‘Out-of-Africa’ atmosphere is embraced here as you listen to the sounds of the African night awaken around you.

Situated on the edge of an acacia forest, Little Chem Chem is the ‘sunrise camp’ located on the shores of lake Burunge with a handful of 6 Canvas Suites, which can accommodate 12 adults + 2 children in total. The rooms are large, supremely comfortable, use of solar-power and the camp is unfenced, to allow game to freely roam through the area.

The characteristic landscapes of the Tarangire River surrounding the camp have impressive Baobab trees which enable you to dine in the wilderness. Little Chem Chem has a main tent complete with a lounge, viewing areas and magnificent dining, where from dawn to dusk, you relish in the tranquility and rhythmic pace of a slower Africa.

The Camp is accessible from Chem Chem’s private Airstrip, a 15mins drive from the Camp and is accessible through all scheduled local carriers from Arusha, Kilimanjaro, Dar Es Salaam, Zanzibar and Serengeti.  The Helipad is 1 hour’s drive to the camp, by road from Arusha is an approx. 2 hour’s drive, one hour drive from Chem Chem Lodge (subject to game drive enroute), and 45mins from Forest Chem Chem.

Accommodation

6 luxury vintage tents (including 1 Family tent), Max guests: 12 adults + 2 children, Double or twin bed, Indoor & outdoor showers, In-the room: fans, mosquito nets, in-room safe, hairdryer, telephone, gym-in-a-basket, Butler service, Wi-Fi is available, note that connection speed is variable.

Electricity is solar powered with a backup generator (UK plugs). USB charging facilities. Complimentary Wi-Fi, Dressing Gowns, Electrical Outlets, En-Suite, Fan, Hair Dryer, Internet Access (Complimentary), Outside Shower, Pure Cotton Linen, Safe, Shower, Verandah.

5 Luxury Tented Suites: elegantly decorated vintage tents, with a large bedroom (three have king-size beds, two offer twin beds), a rocking chair and study desk, a vanity area with a dressing room, an en-suite bathroom with a shower and flushing toilet. 

The private fire pit embraces an ‘Out of Africa’ atmosphere with flames that seduce you as the sounds of an African night come to life all around you.  Amenities: Dressing gown and slippers, Molton Brown toiletries, Snacks, and fresh water.

Luxury Vintage Family Tent: A two-bedroom canvased family tent perfect for families of 2 adults and 3 children, fitted with a large king-size bed in the main bedroom, the children’s room offers 2 twin beds, and each room has its own vanity area with dressing room, ensuite shower and flushing toilet.
