Overview

Kifaru House sits on a conservancy of 65,000 acres (250km²), which was registered as a rhino conservancy in 1983. The conservancy is a vast wilderness with dramatic views to the south of snow-capped Mt. Kenya, and to the north down to the arid lands of Tassia and II Ngwesi. It has many diverse habitats from pristine forest, fertile grasslands, extensive springs and acacia woodland. The conservancy is famous for its successful healthy 10% black and white rhino populations and 20% of Grevy zebra world population. The whole conservancy is fenced, and employs over 150 rangers.

Kifaru House is located on a small hill in the heart of Lewa Conservancy the five cottages; one is the family cottage in two bedrooms, one double and twin bedrooms, both ensuite. The rooms have their own entrance and are not interconnecting. The remaining four cottages are all individual bedrooms with a king bed and ensuite bathroom with shower, toilet and twin wash basins. One cottage has a beautiful Victorian-style bath and outside shower, which is enclosed by natural reed thatching for privacy, but open to the spectacular African skies.

The comfortable sitting room has a well-stocked bar, an elegant dining area which extends out to a large comfortably furnished terrace. Sunny days you may enjoy breakfast al fresco and watch the busy going-On’s at the water hole below. A choice to relax by the picturesque infinity pool whilst enjoying the magnificent views over the distant plains. The communal structure is made from wood, stone and thatch, and hosts an opulent lounge with luxurious seating around a central coffee table, armchairs, occasional tables, a satellite television, few bookshelves and a cozy fireplace.

Adjacent to the lounge is an open-plan layout featuring the dining room, a long table where breakfast, lunches and dinner are served. The library area has a few book shelves, a DVD player, a computer and printer with access to Wi-Fi.  The terrace is a comfortable spot around the grounds alongside is a pool house with its own dining and lounging areas, a massage room and shower facilities. The conservancy does extensive outreach work into the surrounding communities with its community development Program including healthcare, education, micro-finance, and water projects- in order to share the benefits of wildlife with the community.  Over 70 recorded mammal species within the conservancy, for guests, unrivalled wildlife experience.

Accommodation

In five charming thatched cottages in total, are all well-appointed bedrooms, opulent four-poster beds with lavish en-suite bathrooms, surrounded by an oasis of vibrant lawns filled with birdsong and spectacular views of the plains below. The standard cottages include; complimentary Wi-Fi, dressing gowns, safe, mosquito nets, electrical outlets, laundry service, mosquito nets, shower, bedside tables and lighting, a writing desk and chair, twin wash basin and flush toilet, a large wardrobe, direct dial telephone, CD player, Wi-Fi access, mini-bar and a pleasant seating area.

The 1 Family Cottage has two separate ensuite rooms, with one cottage featuring two bedrooms, one double and one twin bed all en-suite. The rooms have one entrance, a private veranda and are not interconnecting. Here you have an outside shower and a Victorian-style bathtub as a plus.
