Nairobi National Park

Overview

The Nairobi National Park was established in 1946 about 7 km (4.3 mi) south of Nairobi, known as the “Refuge for the Wild”, as the Nairobi Animal Orphanage sits here and serves as a treatment and rehabilitation center for wild animals.  This offers visitors close-up views of animals and an animal adoption programme.

The Orphanage hosts lions, cheetahs, hyenas, jackals, serval cats, rare Sokoke cats, warthogs, leopards, a number of monkeys, baboons, buffalo, various birds life including parrots, guinea fowls, crowned cranes, and ostrich.

This park is home to the highest destiny of black rhinos in Kenya, and a rhino sanctuary with about 76 indigenous black rhinos and 13 white rhinos these endangered species were transferred to the park to protect them from poachers.
