Mara Ol Kinyei Conservancy
Location: Serengeti-Mara eco-system, Narok County, Kenya
Area: 17.500 acres.
Overview
Maasai Mara National Reserve stretches 1,510 sq. km (580 sq. miles) and raises 1,500-2,170 meters above sea level. The Mara is a large national reserve in Narok County, neighbouring the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. This conservancy belongs to the local Maasai Mara Community purposely set for conservation.
A popular eco-system in the Maasai Mara, established in 2005, under the partnership of Maasai landowners and Porini Bush Camps. Covering an area of 17,500 acres in the Koyaki Lemek area, where guests can enjoy uninterrupted views of the wildebeest migration from Loita Plains to Ol Kinyei Conservancy between the months of February and March, where calving occurs when the vegetation of the conservancy is still low.
The Uniqueness of this Park
- Hosts only two small permanent camps with a maximum of only 24 guests at any given time.
- Guests have the whole conservancy area exclusively for game view drives and the neighboring Naboisho Conservancy.
- Located in an area where guests can enjoy uninterrupted views of the Wildebeest migration from Lota Plains to Ol Kinyei where calving takes place between February & March.
Accommodation Options
Hosts only two small permanent camps:
- Porini Mara Camp (a non-seasonal safari camp set in Ol Kinyei Conservancy).
- Porini Cheetah Camp (which is unfenced and located inside a private conservancy far from the usual safari crowds) It has just six spacious guest tents. Both Camps can accommodate a maximum of only 24 guests at any given time.
