Overview
Years ago, Katavi was known for the worship of many gods, and Chada was named after one of the gods worshipped by the Pimbwe people. Located in western Tanzania, within Katavi National Park sits Chada Camp overlooking the Chada plains towards the Mlele escarpment. Chada Katavi was founded 20years ago by Nomad Tanzania owners and has not changed since.
The Camp’s location allows guests to enjoy breakfast with a view over the Chada Plain and Chada Katavi, the raised deck is nestled under the Tamarind Trees overlooking the vast plains. The camp remains open between June to November, the 6 tents which are all spacious and classic, are all ensuite bathrooms using safari bucket showers, eco flush loo, charging ports.
Al fresco dining is set under the stars in Africa’s wilderness, where hippos throng to the available water during the dry season, enjoy a set out on foot in the late afternoon, pausing to capture the wildlife around you. The camp welcome guests 12 years and above and accessible by air from Arusha twice a week, the flight time is approx. 3 hours to Ikuu airstrip a 20mins drive to the Camp.
