Overview:
Nyandarua County whose former capital Nyahururu, under former Central Province which now part of the Laikipia County. Its capital and largest town is Ol Kalou. The county is famous for a number of tourism destination sites attracting both local and international visitors. Agriculture is the foundation of Nyandarua’s economy due to the fertile soils and favorable climate. Due it its high productivity of horticulture, oriculture and milk for the local and global market, it is considered to be the food basket of Kenya.
Some of the attractions in Nyandarua County include; Aberdare National Park, hike up Mount Kipipiri an isolated volcano in the Wanjohi Valley, on the Kinangop Plateau near to the Aberdare Range, Lake Ol’ Bolossat is the only lake in central Kenya and a stunning freshwater lake. Kinangop Plateau is a picturesque beautiful area that attracts nature lovers and photographers and the Elephant Hill Hiking Trail which is said to prepare you for a Mount Kenya hike.
