Overview

Located on 5000 acres of a private conservation area, 12 km southeast of Amboseli National Park. Accessible by air through the nearest airport is Amboseli Airport, 39 km from Elerai Camp, on land leased from the local Elerai Maasai community in a joint partnership to protect the land from poachers, charcoal burners, and encroachment from agriculture and development.

The conservation area is in an AWF (African Wildlife Foundation) identified critical wildlife corridor named ‘the Kitenden Corridor’ which links the Kilimanjaro Forest Reserve in Tanzania to Amboseli National Park and beyond. These areas include a rich variety of ecosystems the semi-arid savanna to wetlands and are home to diverse of flora and fauna.

The Elerai Camp Community and Wildlife Trust were started by Elerai Camp Lodge and its parent company Southern Cross Safaris in association with the local Elerai Maasai council and community.
