Hotel des Mille Collines (meaning Hotel of Thousand Hills) was established in 1973 as the premier grand hotel in Rwanda, ideally located in the central business district with easy access to the city centre. The hotel is a landmark in Rwanda, as it sheltered about 2,000 people during the genocide against the Tutsi in 1994. From the hotel you enjoy the breathtaking views over the hills of Kigali whilst indulging in culinary delights from casual to fine dining and international to local signature dishes.

The hotel is a 4-star, renown to promote local artists and is evident though out the display of local art around the hotel which beautifies and generates income for the local artists as the art pieces are sold. The “Cultural Night” is held every Friday, and is aimed at guests having a taste of the Rwandan culture through live performances of song and dance. The hotel promotes 90% of local produce and Rwandan Culture.

Now as a modern hotel, originally was the first grand hotel in Rwanda famous made famous by Hollywood as the Hotel Rwanda. With 112 rooms, a bar, a café, three conference rooms, a restaurant, a swimming pool, and tennis courts. The La Terrasse restaurant is an all-day dining overlooking the lush green gardens, overlooking the swimming pool. The Panorama Restaurant is Kigali’s finest A la Carte dining experience on the 4th floor, an ideal ambiance for a private or romantic dinner with breathtaking views of rolling hills and twinkling lights of Kigali.
