Overview

Roho ya Selous sits on a small peninsula overlooking Lake Nzerakera, in the very heart of Nyerere National Park a stone’s throw from a palm-fringed tributary of Tanzania’s Rufiji River. Nyerere National Park is the largest reserve in Africa and home to the largest wildlife gathering and largest concentration of elephants in Africa, with half of all Tanzanian elephants living here.

The park has approximately 1,300 wild dogs (the largest concentration in Africa and about one third of the entire world’s population). The camp has an open-sided, canvas-roofed dining or lounge areas while reading a book or with a watchful eye, look out for wildlife around the lake. You may gather choose to gather around the campfire with fellow guests to share safari tales before dinner surrounded by the sounds of the bush.

Afternoons spent by the pool, taking a dip, as you enjoy the views in this perfectly positioned camp, close to a key waterway linking Lake Manze to Lake Nzerakera, where pods of hippo’s wallow, fish eagles scan the landscapes, giraffes wander through the camp enroute to drink water and impalas graze on the grass around the tents.

The park’s marshy landscape of palm trees, lakes, and rivers, and also home to buffaloes, lions, leopards, over 400 recorded bird species for bird enthusiasts including a number of Pel’s fishing owls in the region. The camp is open from June to mid-March and closed between Mid-March to end of May. The closest airstrip Beho Beho used between June and November is 90 mins drive to the camp. And Mtemere Airstrip is 90-minute drive to the camp ad used from December to March.

Accommodation

8 stretch canvas tents which includes 1 family tent each with ensuite bathrooms, hot water showers, over-bed “evening breeze” cooling system, complimentary laundry service, in-room lockable box, flushing toilets, a large double vanity unit and dressing area, ceiling fans, NO hair dryers available, writing desk, safari style table and chairs.

The family tent has two bedrooms, children’s room with two bunk beds plus a single bed (can add an additional small bed), ensuite bathroom with a toilet, shower, and all rooms have in-room charging ports.
