Overview
Lupita Island came to be in 2004, this deserted Island is 5kms off the mainland, and was previously a thick bush with leafy beautiful trees, not much to work with it. Construction began in 2—4 and 4 years later was completed, snuggled in a cluster of small islands on Lake Tanganyika, this remote, unspoiled private island occupies 130 acres of uninhabited area, considered as rustic, rough where straight lines and perfect symmetry are absent.
The lodge offers an opulent, cozy, most exclusive rooms that enables guests to loosen up and take in the astonishing views of the lake and mountains. With fine ding options, gym, spa, swimming pool, games room, bar & lounge, boma and a beach shack. The Dhow bar offers cocktails, and is made from old boats once used on the water, now show a glorious setting as the sunsets over the lakes daily.
The friendly bar staff will customize Lupita cocktail to your taste, take a stroll to the boma, where the camp fire is lit under the stars, enjoy dining with delicious canapes served by the waiters. The main area covers the dining just above the well-built viewing deck and whilst repairs are done using locally sourced thatching, wood products and African antiques.
The Beach bar and private beach are both a big hit with all visitors, as the sun loungers and umbrellas are set up for guests whenever they wish to enjoy the lake whilst having a cold drink readily available. For activities such as kayaking and snorkeling, equipment’s are made available during the day, whilst lunch and evening BBQs can be organized on cool days and nights as you watch fishing boats with their lanterns across the lake. Just a short walk from the main area you find the large freshwater pool, lounge under thatched umbrellas as you soak in the African sun with an ice-cool cocktail of choice from the pool bar.
Lupita Island Lodge has 10 uniquely crafted cottages, with undulating thatched roof from local grasses making each room completely open-air, and breathtaking views of the lake and mountain from the open verandas. Speckled amongst the tropical forest of indigenous trees, The smallest cottage is 1,800 sq Ft whilst the 2-bedroomed, 2 bath family Suite of 2,500 sq Ft. Refresh under the waterfall showers, each villa features bathtubs, plunge pools on either the deck or terrace, a bar and large living area ideal for entertaining or relaxing.
The Spa & wellness centre is set on the hillside of Lupita Island, and offers fantastic views of Lake Tanganyika and the neighbouring mountains.

Accommodation
Deluxe Cottage: spacious complete privacy and an open-plan design, king-size bed or two large single beds, ensuite large bathroom, an open-air bath with a waterfall shower, additional beds may be added in two smaller children’s beds or a bunk bed for a family of 4. Included is a private bar in the sitting room, a plunge pool with amazing views across the lake.
Family Cottage: is a large 2 bedroom with king-sized bed, 2 bathrooms, 2nd sleeping area away from the main bedroom with its own private bathroom. The sitting room is open plan, with a bar, outdoor veranda and plunge pool. Meals can be prepared and served by the staff to the cottage for evenings when you have something special in the comfort of your room.
