Bisate Lodge

Location: Volcanoes National Park Ruhengeri, Rwanda.

Overview

Since opening in 2017, this Lodge one of the most luxurious eco-lodges in Rwanda, has racked up 34 awards and continues to inspire superlatives, located in the natural amphitheater of an eroded volcanic cone – in Kinyarwanda, the word bisate means ‘pieces’ describing how the once-whole cone was worn away by natural erosion. With Six en-suite Forest Villas that embody Rwanda’s rich culture.

Edifying cultural interactions, sophisticated, health-conscious dining, and exuberant hospitality all make your stay superior. The lodge is within easy driving distance of Park Headquarters, from where once-in-a-lifetime gorilla treks depart daily. While gorilla trekking is the star attraction, nearby Volcanoes National Park offers other adventures: climbing Mount Bisoke, visit to the Gorilla Guardian Village, golden monkey trekking, or a visit to Dian Fossey’s burial site.

The Lodges’ sophisticated architectural and interior design is rooted in Rwandan building tradition as exemplified in the design of the Royal Palace of the traditional monarch. This spherical, synthetic thatched structure echoes the thousands of hills that dot the Rwandan landscape, while the richly detailed interior exhibits surfaces and screens made from a variety of woven materials with strong resonance in Rwandan culture.

Each 91 square meter Forest Villa consists of a generous yet intimate combination of reception space, luxurious bedroom and en-suite bathroom, all warmed by a central fireplace – and with breathtaking views out across a private deck towards majestic Mount Bisoke. The Central dining lounge has a fireplace, a beautiful main viewing deck, Main bar lounge, Fine Wine Cellar and Credit Card.

Each Villa has a private viewing deck, enjoy the sunset with drinks on your private balcony, an exclusive Olympus Photo Hub experience, this is a place for meaningful and informative gorilla experience in East Africa, the luxurious Lodge adjacent to Volcanoes National Park, where reforestation and community engagement, interactions all create an enriched experience.
